ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team won the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament, defeating nationally ranked John Carroll, 1-0. Nicole Croushore, a senior from Smithton, scored the goal.
Behrend’s cross-country, golf and volleyball teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s soccer
Lycoming 2, Penn State Behrend 0
Penn State Behrend 3, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 1
The Lions outshot Massachusetts, 25-7. Blake Cooper, a senior from Murrysville, scored the team’s first goal, connecting on a through ball from Jacob Gajewski, a senior from Akron, New York.
Women’s soccer
Penn State Behrend 1, John Carroll 0
Penn State Behrend 4, Franciscan 0
Goalkeeper Riley Morningstar made three saves in the championship game, against John Carroll. She had two stops against Franciscan.
Men’s cross-country
Third (of seven teams) at the Westminster-Fisher Invite
Lucas Boyd, a sophomore from North East, placed seventh in a field of 72 runners. He finished the 5K race in 16:32.58.
Women’s cross-country
Second (of seven teams) at the Westminster-Fisher Invite
Lindsey Hartle, a junior from Pittsburgh, paced the Lions, finishing the 5K race in 21:34.81. She placed 11th in a field of 74 runners.
Men’s golf
Seventh (of eight teams) at the Pitt-Bradford Invitational
Daniel McMaster, a senior from Murrysville, placed 27th in a field of 50 golfers. He finished with a score of 83.
Women’s volleyball
Anderson 3, Penn State Behrend 0
Monmouth 3, Penn State Behrend 0
Hiram 3, Penn State Behrend 0
Saint Marys 3, Penn State Behrend 0
Sarah Nobach, a junior from Athens, Michigan, recorded 17 digs against Hiram. Brynne Smith, a freshman from Butler, had 15 assists and two aces against Anderson.
