Behrend women win AMCC tennis championship

ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis team won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship with a 4-0 defeat of Pitt-Greensburg on Oct. 20. The win earned the Lions their first conference title since 2000.

Behrend’s soccer, cross country, volleyball, swimming and diving and golf teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Men’s soccer

  • Penn State Behrend 2, Penn State Altoona 0
  • Penn State Behrend 0, Alfred State 0

Chris Profaca, a senior from Basking Ridge, New Jersey, scored with a header off a corner kick. Lucas Pittman, a sophomore from Plum, scored in the 77th minute.

Women’s soccer

  • Penn State Behrend 5, Penn State Altoona 0
  • Penn State Behrend 6, Alfred State 0

Trinity Prestash, a senior from Philipsburg, scored four goals against Alfred State. She scored two more against Penn State Altoona.

Men’s cross country

  • Twelfth (of 18 teams) at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College

Lucas Boyd, a sophomore from North East, finished the 8K race in 26:49.2. He placed 45th in a field of 226 runners.

Women’s cross country

  • Fourteenth (of 19 teams) at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College

Lindsey Hartle, a junior from Pittsburgh, finished the 6K race in 25:04.5. She placed 89th in a field of 212 runners.

Women’s volleyball

  • Penn State Altoona 3, Penn State Behrend 2
  • Penn State Behrend 3, Wooster 0
  • Penn State Behrend 3, Alfred State 2

Cadence Jones, a freshman from North East, had 22 kills and 16 digs against Penn State Altoona. Brynne Smith, a freshman from Butler, added 46 assists and 20 digs.

Men’s swimming and diving

  • Third (of four teams) at the Brockport Early Season Invitational

Tim Compton, a senior from Pittsburgh, won the 200 butterfly, finishing in 1:52.56. Will Perham, a junior from Upper St. Clair, won the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 58.31.

Women’s swimming and diving

  • Third (of four teams) at the Brockport Early Season Invitational

Camryn Watters, a sophomore from Greensburg, placed second in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:15.84. Kallie Smith, a freshman from Oil City, placed second in the 200 free, finishing in 2:04.25.

Women’s tennis

  • Penn State Behrend 4, Pitt-Greensburg 0 (AMCC championship)
  • Penn State Behrend 4, Penn State Altoona 1

Enisa Siljkovic, a freshman from Erie, and Lindsey Kerlin, a sophomore from Clearfield, were named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team.

Men’s golf

  • Sixth (of eight teams) at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships

Owen Blum, a sophomore from Warren, had three birdies on the back nine on the second day at the Butler Country Club. He tied for 15th in a field of 40 golfers.
