The Penn State Behrend men’s volleyball team defeated Carlow and Houghton on March 29, winning both matches by a score of 3-0. Daniel Easley, a junior from Erie, had nine kills against Houghton. Luke Mumpower, a junior from North Huntingdon, had 18 assists and a team-best 11 digs.
Behrend’s baseball, softball, track and field and tennis teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Baseball

The Lions scored five runs on six hits in the second inning of the opener against Franciscan. Adam Cooper, a sophomore from State College, hit his first homerun of the season.
Softball
- Alfred 10, Penn State Behrend 2
- Alfred 16, Penn State Behrend 3
Chloe Nale, a freshman from Aliquippa, hit a double in the nightcap against Alfred. She scored on a hit by Jocelyn McNany, a senior from Cranberry Township.
Men’s track and field
Dan Dabrowski, a senior from Harborcreek Township, won the discus event at the Carnegie Mellon Invite with a 50.86-meter throw. Aiden Grieneisen, a sophomore from Brockway, placed second in the javelin, recording a 61.38-meter throw.
Women’s track and field
Julia Balaski, a junior from Mercer, set a program record in the javelin with a 43.34-meter throw at the Carnegie Mellon Invite. She placed second in the event.
Men’s tennis
- Penn State Behrend 4, Penn State Altoona 3
Jonathon Laier, a senior from Lansing, Michigan, won at No. 1 singles, finishing 6-1, 6-4. He teamed with Graham Louis, a freshman from Erie, to win at No. 1 doubles, finishing 6-2.
