Behrend swimming and diving teams set records in Fredonia

ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend men’s swimming and diving team won the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invite, setting pool and program records on each day of the three-day meet. The women’s team placed third.

Behrend’s basketball, wrestling and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Men’s basketball

Baldwin Wallace 88, Penn State Behrend 75

Hobart 60, Penn State Behrend 53

Penn State Behrend 64, Buffalo State 57

Tommy DiRienzo, a senior from Pittsburgh, scored a game-high 18 points against Buffalo State. Matthew McDonough, a junior from Pittsburgh, scored 16 points against Hobart.

Women’s basketball

Brockport 83, Penn State Behrend 62

Oberlin 71, Penn State Behrend 67

Morgan Altavilla, a junior from Pittsburgh, scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds against Oberlin. Rachel Majewski, a senior from Erie, scored 14 points.

Men’s swimming and diving

First (of six teams) at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invite

Anthony Tumino, a junior from Hershey, set program, pool and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Open records in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 20.78. He also set pool and team records in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 45.76. Tim Compton, a senior from Pittsburgh, set team and pool records in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 50.66.

Women’s swimming and diving

Third (of six teams) at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invite

Camryn Watters, a sophomore from Greensburg, set team, pool and AMCC Open records in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 56.63. Behrend’s 400 medley relay team — Kallie Smith, Jadyn Danylko, Marion O’Lone and Watters — set a program record, finishing in 4:02.91.

Wrestling

Penn State Behrend 36, Hiram 9

Penn State Behrend 45, Pitt-Bradford 9

Zach Dellinger, a junior from Williamsville, New York, won twice by pin in the 125-pound bouts. Nolan Fenton, a sophomore from Kersey, won by pin in the 184-pound bout against Pitt-Bradford. He is 10-0 for the season.

Men’s water polo

Augustana 23, Penn State Behrend 7

Penn State Behrend 8, Austin 7

Stanford 26, Penn State Behrend 2

Jack Holl, a senior from Greenwich, Connecticut, scored three goals against Augustana in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation East Championship tournament. He also scored against Austin. Nick Thompson, a freshman from Hudsonville, Michigan, scored two goals against Austin.
