ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s soccer teams won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships on Nov. 9 and will advance to the NCAA Division III tournament. The men’s team defeated Alfred State, winning 5-4 in a penalty-kick shootout. The women’s team defeated Pitt-Greensburg, 4-0.
The men will face Johns Hopkins in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The women will face Ithaca.
Behrend’s basketball, swimming and diving, volleyball, water polo, wrestling and bowling teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s soccer
Penn State Behrend 0, Alfred State 0 (5-4 win, in penalty kicks)

Goalkeeper Anthony Scalise, a freshman from North Huntingdon, made a diving save during the penalty-kick shootout against Alfred State, lifting the Lions to a 5-4 win. He finished the game with five saves.

Trinity Prestash, a senior from Philipsburg, scored all four goals against Pitt-Greensburg. Goalkeeper Riley Morningstar, a junior from North Huntingdon, set the single-season record for shutouts, with 12.
Men’s basketball

Tommy DiRienzo, a senior from Pittsburgh, scored a game-high 30 points. He also had five rebounds and two assists. Mason Blankenberg, a junior from Ontario, New York, scored 25 points.

Penn State Behrend 60, Case Western 59
Alaina Fabin hit a layup as time expired, giving the Lions the win over Case Western in the first game of the Women Leaders Tip-Off Tournament. She finished the game with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The 200 medley relay team — Tim Compton, Will Perham, Glenn Fowkes and Anthony Tumino — set a pool record, finishing in 1:33.62. Fowkes, a sophomore from Vandergrift, also won the 100 backstroke (53.32) and the 200 backstroke (1:59.55). Tumino, a junior from Hershey, won the 50 free (21.05) and the 100 free (47.07).

Camryn Watters, a sophomore from Greensburg, won the 100 backstroke (1:01.45) and the 200 backstroke (2:11.82). Jadyn Danylko, a junior from Erie, won the 100 butterfly (1:03.85) and the 200 butterfly (2:26.36). Logan Wilson, a freshman from Hermitage, won the 200 free (2:05.42) and the 500 free (5:29.37). Kallie Smith, a freshman from Oil City, won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.85) and the 100 free (56.70).
Women’s volleyball

Cadence Jones, a freshman from North East, had 21 kills and 15 digs. Brynne Smith, a freshman from Butler, had 48 assists and 10 digs.

Nick Thompson, a freshman from Hudsonville, Michigan, and Connor Bradley, a senior from Collegeville, each scored six goals against Wheaton. Jack Holl, a senior from Greenwich, Connecticut, scored five goals against Augustana.
Wrestling
Third (of 40 teams) at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational
Nolan Fenton, a sophomore from Kersey, won the 197-pound class with a 4-0 record. He won three bouts by pin. Matthew Melchior, a sophomore from Lawrence Township, New Jersey, placed second in the 174-pound class. He won two matches by pin fall.
