Astronomy Night at Behrend

11:30 PM / January 26, 2023

Darren Williams, professor of astronomy and astrophysics, will discuss the different theories about the origin of the moon — a galactic collision, or the pull of gravity — at the next Open House Night in Astronomy at Penn State Behrend. The Jan. 26 program, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in Room 101 of the Otto Behrend Science Building, is open to the public at no charge.

Williams, the undergraduate coordinator for physics at Behrend, studies the evolution of the solar system and the spin-orbital dynamics of planets and moons. He also studies asteroid impacts on terrestrial planets.

Open House Nights in Astronomy are an outreach program of the School of Science at Penn State Behrend. These scientific presentations are intended for ages 8 and up; for additional information, contact the school at 814-898-6105.
