MONACA, Pa. — The Penn State Beaver women’s basketball team is the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) champion for the second year in a row.

The Lady Lions beat Penn State Schuylkill 76-60 on Sunday, March 2, in the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park.

“Coach Tim Moore and the women’s basketball program are simply amazing,” said Penn State Beaver Athletic Director Andy Kirschner. “The success they have on the court and in the classroom is unmatched at any level.”

Academics are a priority for Penn State Beaver athletes. The athletics department had a cumulative GPA of 3.12 in 2024, and 85 student-athletes made the dean’s list last year.

First-year player Katie Enderle, of Darlington, was the Player of the Game against Schuylkill with 13 points, 15 rebounds and five steals.

“That was such a great win for us. It’s something we’ve been working toward our whole season, and it feels so good for the hard work to pay off,” Enderle said. “I couldn’t have done anything in that game without my teammates, and I give all the credit to them for the constant support and effort they bring to the table.”

The Lady Lions have won 11 PSUAC championships since 2008. The team also has won two United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national championships under Moore and are on the path toward their third following Sunday’s win.

“It was an incredible year. We weren’t sure what to expect having such a young team,” Moore said. This year’s team includes only one fourth-year player and one third-year player.

“We consistently preach that the season is a marathon, not a sprint, and to trust the process. We had some great wins and faced some adversity throughout the season, but our girls stayed focused and continued to work hard the entire time,” Moore said. “In the end, with all of their hard work, teamwork and determination, our young ladies were able to achieve their goal of the program’s 11th conference championship.”

The team finished the year with an overall record of 19-9 and 13-4 in the conference. The Lady Lions will play next in the USCAA national tournament  in Buffalo the week of March 10.
