UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Including a six-minute sellout for the freshman class on Thursday, Penn State student football season tickets have sold out again. More than 21,000 students purchased season tickets to take their place among the No. 1 student section in the nation. Penn State's student section has consistently sold out for four decades, giving the Nittany Lions' one of the most passionate, dedicated student sections in the nation year-in and year-out.

"I've heard that our student section is the best in the nation and I got a preview during the spring game, but to see the passion our students have for Penn State football even during this week's sale is unbelievable," said head coach James Franklin. "To have 21,000-plus students supporting our team each home game from the time the players first take the field until the victory bell rings is such a huge advantage. When we return from Ireland after our opener vs. UCF, I know we'll be backed by the best students in the nation, who will join the rest of the Penn State family to pack Beaver Stadium 107,000 strong."

More than 21,000 student football full season tickets were sold for the Nittany Lions' 2014 campaign. Students looking forward to being part of what ESPN The Magazine called "The Nation's No. 1 Student Section," will witness a home schedule that includes a pair of top 10 teams from last year in Ohio State (Oct. 25, 8 p.m.) and Michigan State (Nov. 29-Senior Day), Homecoming foe Northwestern (Sept. 27) and new Big Ten member Maryland (Nov. 1). Temple (Nov. 15), Akron (Sept. 6) and Massachusetts (Sept. 20) also will visit Beaver Stadium this fall.

"Our student section has once again proven it is the best in the nation and proves that the national trends of decreasing student sales and redemption do not apply at Penn State," said Assistant Athletic Director of Ticketing Sales and Customer Service Jeff Garner. "Our students passion and pride were on display this week, as was evident by the quick nature of the junior sale (35 minutes) and freshman sale (six minutes). They're ready for another great season in Beaver Stadium."

For students who were not able to purchase season tickets during the sale, Student TicketExchange will be available throughout the season for home games. More information will be posted to Student Central (www.GoPSUsports.com/studentcentral). Student ticket away game information will also be released closer to the season.
