Alumni of the Penn State School of Theatre will reunite for “WE ARE ... ON BROADWAY!”, a one-night-only concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, at The State Theatre, presented by current School of Theatre senior Carolyn Quinn in association with School of Theatre alumnus Mike Karns and the School of Theatre Alumni Group. The evening will showcase the talents of four Penn State alumni who are now performing on Broadway and around the country, current Musical Theatre majors, and local middle and high school students. The evening will be directed by Penn State’s head of Musical Theatre, John Simpkins, with music direction by School of Theatre Music Director Dan Riddle. For more information, go to http://thestatetheatre.org/we-are-on-broadway/.

Featured performers will include Caroline Bowman, most recently seen starring on Broadway as Elphaba in "Wicked;" Nathan Lucrezio, currently in "Aladdin" and previously in "Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella" on Broadway; Laurie Veldheer, a member of the original Broadway cast of "Newsies" and a recent star of "Mamma Mia!;" and Alan Wiggins, who has been seen in "The Lion King" and "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" on Broadway.

According to Quinn, a stage management major, this event is the first of its kind at Penn State. “In my four years as a Penn State student, I have never heard of an event of this kind or caliber ever being done before. I cannot wait for this concert to showcase the incredible talent that Penn State attracts, fosters and produces.”

Karns, president of the School of Theatre Alumni Group, added, “I believe that Penn State’s School of Theatre is one of the most prolific programs in the nation. Performers from Penn State are working both on and off stage throughout the entertainment industry. We wanted the chance to showcase some of the talent from Penn State and the State College community.”
