UNIVERSTY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Stuckeman School is hosting a series of seven virtual lectures during the spring 2021 semester, including guests from the fields of architecture, landscape architecture and graphic design.
The series kicks off on Jan. 27 and features:
- Pablo Castro, co-founder Obra Architects, a firm with locations in New York, Beijing and Seoul
- Dayton Schroeter and Julian Arrington, of SmithGroup, the lead designers of "Society’s Cage," the installation that was born in the aftermath of the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor "as our society reckons with institutional racism and white supremacy"
- Design Army, a multi-disciplinary creative agency in Washington, D.C., that was co-founded by Jake Lefebure, a 1996 Penn State graphic design alumnus
- Lois Weinthal, chair and professor of interior design at Ryerson University in Toronto
- Laurie Olin, renowned landscape architect and the Department of Landscape Architecture’s 2021 Bracken Fellow
- Local Office Landscape & Urban Design, a New-York based firm that focuses on projects that “build cities in participation with nature"
- Giorgia Lupi, an Italian information designer whose work takes a humanistic approach to data
- The Black Reconstruction Collective, which evolved from the upcoming MoMA “Reconstructions: Architecture and Blackness in America” show and features the 10 black architects, designers and artists who are contributing their work to the show, including Felecia Davis, an associate professor in the Stuckeman School’s Department of Architecture
All lectures in the series are free and open to the public.
