UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Centre Stage will kick off its 2019-20 season with a Sneak Preview Celebration from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 4, at the Olsan-Stone Terrace and Playhouse Theatre.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the directors, designers and students who will be producing the upcoming shows; catch a snippet of upcoming performances; view designs and renderings for the upcoming season; and purchase tickets to the productions. Sneak Preview tickets are $25.
Penn State Centre Stage will produce six shows at the Playhouse Theatre during the 2019–20 season, including:
- "She Kills Monsters," by Qui Nguyen, directed by Sebastian Trainor and Erik Raymond Johnson, Oct. 8–17
- "A Little Night Music," by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, directed by Phillip Fazio, Nov. 5–15
- "Angels in America," by Tony Kushner, directed by Rick Lombardo, Feb. 25–March 5
- "Monty Python's Spamalot," by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, directed by Wes Drummond, April 2–12
Smaller-scale shows as part of the Off-Centre series will be performed at the Penn State Downtown Theatre. These include:
- "Hooded or Being Black for Dummies," by Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm, guest directed by Herb Newsome, Sept. 24–28
- "The Lucky Boy," by Kirsten Childs, directed by John Simpkins, Feb. 18–22
