UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Movin’ On, Penn State’s annual student-run music festival, has decided to cancel its 2020 event due to increasing concerns regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic. The festival was set to feature Foster the People, Lil Yachty, Two Friends, and the Student Programming Association’s sponsored act, Sasha Sloan, on May 1 at the IM fields.
This decision comes as a result of recent federal guidelines to cancel or postpone large community events that consist of 10 or more people. Movin’ On has made this decision out of concern for the health and well-being of Penn State students, faculty and the community.
As a result of this decision, Movin’ On also has canceled all of its events for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, including Battle of the Bands, which was set to take place on March 26 in Alumni Hall.
Movin’ On would like to thank the University Park Allocation Committee and its collaborating organizations — the Student Programming Association, Association of Residence Hall Students, and University Park Undergraduate Association — for continuously helping to build this festival every year. Despite these unfortunate circumstances, Movin’ On looks forward to working with these organizations to create future festivals filled with diverse music, exciting events and community involvement.
Next year’s edition of Movin’ On is scheduled for April 30, 2021.
