Bryce Jordan Center’s Social Media Power Index ranked 14th in North America

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Venue’s Today, a leading international trade publication that covers the business side of entertainment and sports, particularly as it relates to venues, has come out with their updated Top 100 (out of 400 venues) Social Media Power Index. The Social Media Power Index (SMP100) measures how a public assembly facility engages its audience and how effectively it builds its brand. Points are awarded by the number of Twitter followers, Facebook likes, the number of people talking about you on Facebook, check-ins on Facebook, check-ins on Foursquare, hashtagged mentions on Instagram and Instagram followers. The Bryce Jordan Center was ranked 14th in the 5,001 to 15,001 capacity category of venues in North America for its social media usage compared to other locations with similar capacities. Some of the venues the Jordan Center was categorized with are well known in the national touring industry -- Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver (No. 1), Radio City Music Hall in New York (No. 3), the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles (No. 4) and Wolf Trap in Vienna, Va., (No. 20).

While the SMP100 chart is designed to show venues how they rank against each other, locally there’s no substitute for using social media proactively to educate and define your audience so you can actually understand them better. In near future, the Bryce Jordan Center hopes to improve in its audience interaction capability with built-in custom apps that will enable ticket purchasing without leaving a social media site on a phone.
