UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The College of Arts and Architecture will host the 2022 Summer Institute on Contemporary Art (SICA), a professional development opportunity for preK–12 teachers, June 13–17 on the Penn State University Park campus.
This year SICA will focus on an exploration of sustainability and social action through the arts, with activities organized around five themes: diversity/equity, inclusion/access, sustainability, justice and belonging.

The Summer Institute on Contemporary Art was established in 2013 by B. Stephen Carpenter II, now the Michael J. and Aimee Rusinko Kakos Dean in the College of Arts and Architecture, and Dana Carlisle Kletchka, former curator of education at the Palmer Museum of Art and now assistant professor of art museum education at Ohio State. Allen is co-director of SICA along with Carpenter. Sessions will be led by Allen, Carpenter, and Jeffrey Cornwall, who recently received his Ph.D. in Art Education from Penn State.
