Pianist Christopher Guzman returns to give free recital at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State School of Music will welcome back pianist Christopher Guzman for a special recital on March 27 at Recital Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

Guzman’s program will feature a captivating selection of works, immersing audiences in the lush Romantic tradition while venturing into modernist soundscapes. The recital begins with Franz Liszt’s evocative "Spozalizio," a piece inspired by Raphael’s painting "The Marriage of the Virgin." The program takes bold turns with modernist masterpieces, including works by Béla Bartók and George Walker, before concluding with Enrique Granados’s "Los Requiebros," a dazzling staple of Spanish piano repertoire influenced by the paintings of Francisco Goya.

Guzman served as a faculty member at Penn State from 2011 to 2023 and now teaches piano at Northwestern University. Known for his expressive artistry and technical brilliance, Guzman continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
