Penn State School of Music's 20th annual OcTUBAfest to run throughout October

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.  — The Penn State School of Music will present the 20th Annual OcTUBAfest, a celebration of all things tuba and euphonium, throughout the month of October. Penn State's OcTUBAfest will feature dynamic performances, showcasing the talents of students, faculty and guest artists. The events are free and open to the public. 

Events Include: 

OcTUBA 3: Brass Chamber Music Concert
Date: Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m.
Location: Recital Hall
The opening event highlights brass chamber music, featuring performances by an undergraduate brass quintet, a graduate brass quintet and two tuba/euphonium quartets. Audiences will be treated to works by composers such as Brahms, Buttery, Gibbons and Nishimura, among others.

OcTUBA 10: Azure Duo
Date: Oct. 10, 7:30 p.m.
Location: Recital Hall
This concert will showcase the talents of Penn State faculty member Velvet Brown (tuba) and acclaimed pianist Ron Stabinsky, performing together as the Azure Duo. The program will include works by Florence Price, Barbara York, Roland Szentpali and more.

OcTUBA 24: TUBAWEEN
Date: Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m.
Location: Recital Hall
Join us for the 20th annual TUBAWEEN concert, a festive and spooky celebration. Directed by Velvet Brown, the Penn State Tuba Euphonium Ensemble will perform works by composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Jack Day, Yasuhide Ito and Jiaojiao Liang. Come in costume to celebrate TUBAWEEN!
