UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The "American Mavericks, Malcontents, and Mischief Makers" recital series will launch on Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Penn State Recital Hall.
This dynamic series begins with an evening of bold, unconventional compositions that showcase the rebellious and innovative spirit of American music. The program will feature works by Missy Mazzoli and Charles Ives, alongside Poulenc’s innovative Trio for Bassoon, Saxophone, and Piano.
The concert will highlight the exceptional talents of Penn State School of Music faculty and students, including Percussion @ Penn State ensemble and acclaimed professors. Audiences will also have the opportunity to join engaging discussions on the evolution of American music and the saxophone’s role as a trailblazing instrument.
General admission is $30, which includes signature cocktails, themed hors d'oeuvres and conversation beginning at 6:30 p.m. Free admission (concert only) will be available for students with a valid student ID at the door starting at 6:30 p.m.
