UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Arts and Architecture Alumni Society recently awarded scholarships to eight students representing every academic unit in the College of Arts and Architecture, plus Penn State World Campus. Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends, the scholarship has grown since its establishment in 1998, allowing the Alumni Society to increase both the number and size of the awards.
The 2024 recipients are:
Architecture: Hely Parmar
Hely Parmar is a fourth-year bachelor of architecture student minoring in architectural history.
Art History: Hails Reilly
Hails Reilly will graduate with a bachelor of arts in art history, minor in Italian, and certificate in museum studies in May 2025. Her goal in life, she said, is to relate her academic passions to her professional endeavors and create a broader community through a shared passion for the arts.
Graphic Design: Isabella Everett
Isabella Everett is a New Jersey native studying graphic design and film production. She has been on the Dean’s List the last four semesters and is heavily involved in the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) as a public relations captain.
Landscape Architecture: Julia Li
Julia Li is a fourth-year Schreyer Scholar majoring in landscape architecture and minoring in meteorology. She will stay at Penn State to earn a master of science in landscape architecture, researching how the perception of climate change affects the way people interact with built and natural landscapes.
Music: Xander Popko
Xander Popko is a third-year student pursuing dual degrees in music studies and advertising/public relations with a minor in arts entrepreneurship. Popko serves as the School of Music's marketing and production intern. As a member of the Penn State Clarinet Studio, he performs in the Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a resident assistant for Business and Society House and a Presidential Leadership Academy Scholar.
Theatre: Trinity Jackson
Trinity Jackson is a third-year bachelor of fine arts acting student from York, Pennsylvania. She looks forward to continuing her work with organizations such as the Performing Arts Council, serving as president, and the Student Programming Association, serving as director of internal affairs.
Visual Arts: Greta Miller
Greta Miller is in her fifth year pursuing dual degrees in general science (bachelor of science) and sculpture (bachelor of fine arts). She has served as president of the Sculpture Club and student representative for the SoVA alumni group. She said she hopes to attend textile artist residencies before applying to graduate programs in either fine arts or sustainable design.
Penn State World Campus: Samantha Leone
Samantha Leone earned her first bachelor’s degree in business marketing at Le Moyne College in upstate New York. She is currently a student in the Digital Multimedia Design program offered through the World Campus. After graduation, she said she hopes to work full-time in graphic design and part-time as a portrait photographer.
