NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athletes Caden Traggiai, of Sarver, and Sarah Petry, of St. Benedict, were selected as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week on Monday, Oct. 14.
Traggiai and Petry each recorded a pair of individual wins while also being part of first-place relay finishes in the Penn State Altoona swim teams’ season opener on Oct. 11 at Washington & Jefferson College.
Traggiai won the 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:00.64 and took first place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:30.64. He also combined with his teammates to finish first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, in which the group posted a total time of 1:31.41.
Petry placed first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:09.76 and won the 500 Yard Freestyle after clocking in at 5:50.59. She was also part of her team’s first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, in which Petry and her teammates combined for a time of 1:52.23.
The men’s swimming team tied W&J 114.5-114.5 in the meet, and the women’s team won 127-93.
The Penn State Altoona men’s and women’s swimming teams return to action on the road on Oct. 25, with a dual meet at non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College starting at 6 p.m.
