NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona senior Casey Hess, of Annville, was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week in men’s tennis on Monday, March 24.
Hess picked up his fifth singles win of the season on March 23, to help Penn State Altoona defeat conference foe Penn State Behrend at home by a score of 5-2.
Trailing 1-0 to Behrend after doubles play, Penn State Altoona surged back to win the match by taking five out of six in singles. Hess spearheaded the victory with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the No. 1 singles match, improving his season record to 5-2 in singles.
This is Hess’ first AMCC Player of the Week award this season, and it is the sixth of his collegiate career.
Penn State Altoona men’s tennis is 6-1 overall this season, including 2-0 in the AMCC. The Lions travel to Erie for a rematch with conference opponent Penn State Behrend at 6 p.m. on March 29.
