ALTOONA, Pa. — Harriett Gaston, an undergraduate studies adviser at Penn State Altoona, was interviewed for a recent WPSU story.
The story focuses on the United States Army restoring the record of wrongfully executed Black World War I soldiers, including one from Altoona.
As a community historian, Gaston offers background on the Houston Riots of 1917 that led the hanging deaths of 110 Black soldiers. William C. Nesbit, born in Altoona, was one of them.
