ALTOONA, Pa. — By virtue of its performance during the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships earlier this month, the Penn State Altoona men’s swimming team totaled eight places on the All-AMCC team, which was announced on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The league’s all-conference team is determined by swimmers’ finishes from the AMCC Championships, which took place Feb. 14–17. A first-place AMCC finish in a swim gives that swimmer first-team all-conference status, while a runner-up finish ensures second-team recognition.

Adam Marawan, of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, led the way for Penn State Altoona with first-team honors in two different individual swims. Meanwhile, Caden Traggiai, of Sarver, scored a pair of second-team places individually, and Adam Dotts, of Hummelstown, also earned a second-team recognition in an individual event.

Additionally, Penn State Altoona had three second-team placements in relay events. Dotts, Marawan and Traggiai had a hand in the Lions’ second-place relay finishes, as did Jack Zisa, of Yardley, and Lincoln Johnson, of Huntingtown, Maryland, and Rocco Solimeo, of Harrisburg.

First-Team All-AMCC

• 100-yard freestyle, Adam Marawan: Marawan had a team record-setting time in the 100-yard freestyle during the fourth and final day of the AMCC Championships on Saturday, Feb. 17. He won first place in the AMCC by clocking in at 46.46. That time established a new Penn State Altoona men’s swimming record, edging the previous record of 46.78 that Marawan had set himself in last season’s conference championships.
• 200-yard freestyle, Adam Marawan: Marawan nabbed AMCC gold during day three of the AMCC Championships on Friday, Feb. 16, placing first in the conference in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.34.

Second-Team All-AMCC

• 50-yard freestyle, Adam Dotts: Dotts earned second place in the AMCC in the 50-yard freestyle during day two of the AMCC Championships on Thursday, Feb. 15. He took runner-up status in the conference with a time of 21.69, which represented a new team record by eking out the previous record of 21.74, set earlier this season by teammate Marawan.
• 500-yard freestyle, Caden Traggiai: Traggiai was the AMCC silver medalist in the 500-yard freestyle during day two of the conference championships, finishing in 4:39.85 to take second among all league swimmers. That time also set a new Penn State Altoona team record, surpassing the previous time of 4:45.86, which was set during the 2022 AMCC Championships.
• 1,650-yard freestyle, Caden Traggiai: Traggiai finished as the AMCC runner-up in the 1,650-yard freestyle during night four of the AMCC Championships, recording a time of 16:32.18. That time set a new men’s swimming team record in that event, breaking the previous mark of 16:37.45 which had stood since the 2022 championships.
• 200-yard freestyle relay, Lincoln Johnson, Adam Marawan, Rocco Solimeo, Adam Dotts: Johnson, Marawan, Solimeo, and Dotts came together to place second in the AMCC with a time of 1:25.77 in the 200-yard freestyle relay during day two of the championships. The group’s time set a new program record in that event, besting the previous record of 1:27.59 from the 2020 AMCC Championships.
• 400-yard freestyle relay, Adam Dotts, Caden Traggiai, Rocco Solimeo, Adam Marawan: Dotts, Traggiai, Solimeo, and Marawan combined for a time of 3:11.94 in the 400-yard freestyle relay during the fourth night of the AMCC Championships, placing second in the conference and setting another new team record. The squad’s time supplanted the previous record of 3:13.89, set during the 2020 championships.
• 800-yard freestyle relay, Caden Traggiai, Adam Marawan, Jack Zisa, Adam Dotts: Traggiai, Marawan, Zisa, and Dotts posted a total time of 7:12.59 in the 800-yard freestyle relay during the opening night of the AMCC Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 14, wrapping up second place in the conference.

The Penn State Altoona men’s swimming team finished in third place in the AMCC Championships while scoring a team-record 566.5 points throughout the four-day event.
