ALTOONA, Pa. — The Penn State Altoona Alumni Society's sixth annual Community for Kids Golf Tournament, presented by PSECU, has been canceled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event, originally scheduled for Friday, June 26, and then rescheduled to Monday, Aug. 17, has raised over $85,000 in five years for its three beneficiaries: the Blair County Center for Child Justice, Penn State Altoona Intercollegiate Athletics, and the Penn State Altoona Alumni Society Scholarship program.

“Although we are disappointed as a planning committee, the health and safety of our alumni, students, faculty, and staff is paramount at this time. Under the direction of University Park leadership, our committee was advised to cancel for 2020, and we look forward to hosting a bigger, better, and more impactful event in 2021,” said Tom Koehle, Community for Kids Golf Tournament chairperson. “We support the decision as one university to protect not only those involved, but also the communities in which we live.”

The sixth edition of the Community for Kids Golf Tournament is now slated for June 25, 2021 at Sinking Valley Country Club in Altoona.

“We remain grateful to our loyal alumni and sponsors, especially PSECU, as our growing success would not be possible without their leadership. They are a great partner and friend of the Penn State Altoona Alumni Society, Penn State Altoona Intercollegiate Athletics, and the Penn State Alumni Association," Koehle added.
