Altoona student-athletes earn spots on CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Penn State Altoona women’s basketball student athletes Jess Burns, of South Fayette, and Camryn Figard, of Hollidaysburg, were recognized for their success in the classroom on Tuesday, March 26, when both student athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators’ Division III Academic All-District team.

To be eligible for a spot on the Academic All-District team, student athletes must meet certain academic and athletic requirements. Academically, student athletes must be at least in their second year while holding cumulative grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. Athletically, players must be starters or key reserves who have played in at least 90% of their team's games or have started at least two-thirds of their team's games. Nominators could submit up to four qualified student athletes per team.

Burns started all 27 games for the Lions in 2023-24, seeing 31.7 minutes per game. She averaged 10.4 points per game, 2.9 assists per game, 2.3 rebounds per game, and 1.0 steal per game. Burns is majoring in nursing at Penn State Altoona.

Figard played in 26 games for Penn State Altoona this past season, averaging 11.7 minutes per game off the bench. She secured 2.0 rebounds per game while scoring 1.8 points per game. Figard is majoring in kinesiology-applied exercise and health and physical education certification emphasis.
