NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona forward/midfielder Mallorie Smith, of Bellefonte, was picked as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer on Monday, Oct. 28.
Smith helped power the Lions to a pair of AMCC road wins last week, including setting two new all-time team records.
In Wednesday night’s 5-0 victory at Carlow University, Smith scored two goals, recorded two assists, attempted 12 shots, and put seven shots on goal. Her performance that night put her into first place on the Penn State Altoona women’s soccer program’s all-time points list.
Smith followed that up with another big game in Saturday afternoon’s 7-0 win at Pitt-Bradford, when she scored two more goals, added one assist, and totaled 12 shots, with seven coming on goal. Her first score of the day gave her sole possession of the Lions’ all-time goals record.
In two games last week, Smith totaled four goals, three assists, 24 shots attempted, and 14 shots on goal. She now ranks first in Penn State Altoona women’s soccer history with 101 career points and 43 career goals.
Among all players in the AMCC this fall, Smith is currently third in shots attempted (59), fourth in shots on goal (27), sixth in goals scored (6), eighth in points (15), and 12th in assists (3).
Penn State Altoona women’s soccer is 4-8-2 overall, including 4-2-1 in the AMCC. The Lions conclude their regular season at home on Tuesday, Oct. 29, with a matchup against nearby conference rival Mount Aloysius College starting at 6 p.m.
