Penn State Altoona will hold multiple events in recognition of First-Generation Celebration Day, held annually on Nov. 8. The celebration aims to raise awareness about the first-generation experience at Penn State and uplift the voices of students, faculty, staff and alumni who were or will be the first in their immediate families to achieve a college degree.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 5 p.m., or Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 6 to 7 p.m.
    First-Generation Adult Learner Identity virtual panel

  • Monday, Nov. 7, beginning at 11 a.m.
    Information Tables at various outdoor locations with giveaways

  • Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 6:45 p.m.
    Livestreaming of the University Park Student Success Center panel presentation in the Fireside Lounge of the Slep Student Center. Snacks available.

  • Thursday, Nov. 10, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
    Information Tables at various outdoor locations with giveaways

  • Thursday, Nov. 17, from noon to 1:15 p.m.
    First-generation gathering with Penn State alumni in the Pond View Lounge of the Slep Student Center. Soup and salad lunch and giveaways provided.
