UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Consumers looking for dairy-free options at the Berkey Creamery are in luck — two flavors of the creamery’s brand-new sorbets are now available in the store and online.

The sorbets come in lemon and cherry flavors, which will rotate in scooping availability. Flavors also will be available in 3-gallon tubs for purchase online.

James Brown, manager of sales and marketing at the Berkey Creamery, said he and the rest of the staff are excited to introduce the highly anticipated — and requested — products.

“We've been listening to our customers’ feedback and are thrilled to introduce our new dairy-free options,” Brown said. “Our product-development team has been working hard on creating the best dairy-free option that aligns with our high standards for both quality and taste. We can't wait for our customers to try their first scoops!”

Sorbet, also known as water ice, is a gourmet frozen dessert made from fruit juice and sugar with a texture similar to a sherbet. It also has fewer calories than ice cream and is fat free. A full list of the new sorbets’ ingredients is available on the creamery’s website.

At this time, both flavors of sorbet are only available for scooping in store and in 3-gallon tubs online. These flavors will be alternated in the dipping cabinet throughout the year. Half-gallon tubs currently are not available.
