Penn Staters invited to make their voices heard at self-study community meeting

The University community is invited to an hourlong interactive meeting on April 15 to learn more about Penn State’s reaffirmation of accreditation and how Penn Staters can make their voice heard throughout the process.

Terence Peavy, vice president for institutional field relations with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), will join the Penn State community on from 3:30-4:30 p.m. April 15 via Zoom to explain the reaffirmation of accreditation process in detail; discuss how faculty, staff, students and alumni can be a part of innovation and improvement at Penn State through self-study participation; and take attendee questions.

This informational meeting for the Penn State community is part of the University’s self-study process, which is a key component of the University’s regular reaffirmation of accreditation. Every eight years, MSCHE requires its more than 130 member institutions, including Penn State, to complete a comprehensive self-evaluation of educational quality and success in meeting its institutional mission, ethical practices and demonstrating positive student outcomes. This self-study must provide evidence of compliance with MSCHE standards for accreditation and serves as an opportunity to recognize the University’s strengths as well as opportunities for improvement.

All members of the Penn State community are invited to mark their calendars for this April 15 conversation to learn more about the importance of accreditation and how they can lend their voice to this critical University-wide initiative.

Interested community members can attend the meeting at this link, (Meeting ID: 945 2406 4554) or join via phone by dialing 1-301-715-8592.

The Office of Planning, Assessment, and Institutional Research supports the self-study process and is available to answer questions. Community members who have questions can contact OPAIR at 814-863-8721 or selfstudy@psu.edu.
