UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In order to protect the health and safety of community members who remain at University Park during the remote-learning period, all retail eateries in the HUB-Robeson Center and the retail operation of the Penn State Bookstore closed on Tuesday, March 17. The Panera Bread in Kern Building is also closing.

The closure will remain in effect through at least April 6 and will be reevaluated in the coming weeks. While public access to the HUB will be restricted as part of the closure, staff who work in the HUB will be able to enter the building as necessary.

The closure includes both Burger King and Panda Express, which had initially planned to remain open during the remote-learning period. However, after careful consideration, it was determined that closing the HUB entirely would be in the best interest of the University’s efforts to promote social distancing and discourage public gatherings due to coronavirus.

For the limited number of students who remain in on-campus housing, the University is serving meals seven days a week in one dining commons and one on-campus convenience store also will be open daily. To encourage social distancing the dining format will be all “to go.”
