In recent weeks, more than 9,000 people have signed a petition advocating for fairer state funding for Penn State students and families.
Penn State currently receives the lowest funding in the state on a per-student basis, lagging behind the commonwealth’s other public institutions by between $2,600 and $3,400 per Pennsylvania resident student.
That disparity is why the University has requested a 47.6% increase in its 2023-24 general support appropriation to fairly fund Penn State students and place them on equal footing with their peers at the state's other public universities. This is funding that directly impacts the University's education mission and is used to provide an in-state tuition rate that represents significant cost savings for Pennsylvania resident students and their families.
In this video message, students express their gratitude to every Penn State Advocate who voiced their support for increased state funding for Penn State students.
For those who didn't sign the petition, it is not too late to lend your voice to the cause.
