  • The draft Penn State Strategic Plan continues to be available for community review at strategicplan.psu.edu through Nov. 27, 2024.

  • Faculty, staff and students are highly encouraged to provide their perspectives on each of the institutional goals, objectives, metrics and strategies.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As previously announced, a draft proposal for the Penn State Strategic Plan has been shared with the community to provide their feedback through Nov. 27.

Over the past month, the plan has garnered insights and feedback from at least one community member belonging to each unit at the University with more than 1,000 total responses already shared or currently in progress. Currently, the majority of these come from faculty (23%), staff (37%) and students (16%). Of these, more than 30% of respondents have provided their name for any follow-up questions or to continue to be involved in the plan beyond the feedback period. In addition, more than 300 individuals have engaged in feedback meetings with the Office of Planning, Assessment and Institutional Research.

As the community feedback window continues, additional perspectives from Penn State faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to enhance the input and outcomes of the plan. After the data collection is completed, the University plans to share a summary of the feedback to the draft plan with the community, as well as how this feedback was integrated.

“I’m incredibly encouraged by the response our community is providing to the draft Strategic Plan. With every perspective, we strengthen the plan and its future impacts,” said Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi. “Whether it’s an endorsement of our objectives or novel suggestions to measure our impact, every community member’s valuable insight brings us closer to a Strategic Plan that will orient us in the right direction. Please continue to join your colleagues and peers by providing your thoughts on the draft institutional plan.”

Community members are highly encouraged to review the draft goals and submit surveys available through strategicplan.psu.edu. For units or groups that would like to host targeted engagements and brainstorms, please reach out to StrategicPlan@PSU.edu.

While each unit has contributed at least one survey response to the overall institutional plan, the level of engagement varies across goals. To deepen these contributions, community members are asked to review each currently available goal and build upon the insights already shared:

While reviewing the institutional plan, community members are also welcome to share, as part of this existing feedback mechanism via the survey or by email, how this draft could support the development of their individual unit’s aligned strategic plan. This feedback will be shared directly with unit leaders as the unit plan development process starts in the spring. Unit-level efforts are expected to begin in earnest in the spring, with additional resources being shared later in the fall semester to guide this process.

The feedback window for the institutional plan will close on Nov. 27, 2024, with the community insights being infused and used to finalize the Strategic Plan in early spring.
