MONACA, Pa. — Renata Shaw, administrative support assistant  for the chancellor, director of campus development (DoD) and director of campus relations (DoCR) at Penn State Beaver, has been honored with the 2024 Award for Administrative Excellence.

The award, established in 1970, is given to a faculty or staff member whose performance, methods and achievements exemplify the highest standards of administrative excellence.

Nominators said Shaw has a tremendous work ethic, acute sense of detail and a personality that allows her coworkers to continue to grow under her mentorship.

Shaw runs the chancellor’s office, overseeing all campus advisory board activities, managing the chancellor’s schedule, budgets, facilitates leadership meetings and retreats. For the director of campus relations, she handles budget and events and ensures facilities needs are met for those events. She also oversees purchasing and provides intensive alumni and donor relations work for the director of campus development.

“Renata has been an administrative assistant for both the chancellor and DoCR since 2003 and has continually supported those units with the utmost professionalism, kindness, calmness, attention to detail and care for the campus,” a nominator said. “She is the face of the lead of the campus and all of our relations with the community, as she is often the first person they engage with either in person or by phone, and she does so with an exemplary work ethic.”

Shaw recently took on a new duty, an annual golf outing that’s one of the campus’ most important fundraisers, nominators said. Shaw jumped in mid planning due to staffing changes and quickly organized the successful event.

One nominator said Shaw is patient and mentoring when it comes to new employees.

“Renata was such a godsend to have right next door to me in the academic affairs suite as I was learning my new position, and I would not have made it through my first year if it were not for her,” a nominator said.
