Penn State Smeal’s DeSarbo named American Statistical Association Fellow

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Wayne DeSarbo, Distinguished Smeal Chaired Professor of Marketing and executive director of the Center for Sports Business and Research in the Penn State Smeal College of Business, has been named a fellow of the American Statistical Association.

Fellows undergo a rigorous nomination process and DeSarbo’s selection represents his “outstanding contributions to the statistical profession.”

A member of the Smeal faculty since 1996, DeSarbo has published more than 120 articles in leading journals, has been the editor of nearly a half dozen journals, and is a member of or served on the boards of myriad professional organizations.

DeSarbo holds a doctorate in marketing and statistics, a master of arts in marketing, a master of arts in industrial sociology, and a bachelor of science in economics, all from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned a master of arts in administrative science from Yale.

DeSarbo will be presented with his award on Aug. 2 in Chicago at the Joint Statistical Meetings Awards Ceremony.
