Penn State Learning's full tutoring services begins

Guided Study Groups started Aug. 25; services available at no additional cost to students

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Learning’s tutoring services at the University Park campus began Aug. 29 for the fall 2021 semester. Tutoring is covered by tuition and available at no additional cost. There will be no tutoring at Penn State Learning on Sunday, Sept. 5, and Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of Labor Day.

Writing tutoring

Writing tutoring is offered in person at 220A Boucke Building and remotely. Appointments can be made for the following times through Starfish:

  • Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. by appointment and 2-10 p.m. for walk-ins;
  • Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. by appointment;
  • Sunday, 6-10 p.m. walk-ins;
  • Remote, asynchronous tutoring Sunday-Thursday;
  • Remote, synchronous appointments Sunday-Thursday 6-10 p.m.

The Search Bar will be open Monday-Thursday from noon to 10 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. at Sidewater Commons/W102 Pattee Library. The Search Bar offers peer-to-peer undergraduate student writing support and helps students conduct research and use library services. The Search Bar is a collaboration between University Libraries and Penn State Learning.

Language tutoring

Language tutoring will be available starting Aug. 29 in 220A Boucke, but in-person appointments will be available for booking on Starfish during the first week of classes.

Math tutoring

Math 004 through Math 141 tutoring will be available Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. Math tutoring is offered in-person and walk-in only at 7 Sparks Building.

Math 220 through Math 251 tutoring will be available at 7A Sparks Building on Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m.

Guided Study Groups

Guided study groups began Aug. 25. This is a collaborative learning program with sessions led by trained student leaders and designed to support students who are enrolled in large, challenging lecture courses. Find a list of Guided Study Groups sessions.
