UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Fall Career Days will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 12, 13 and 14. This career fair brings employers from all over the country to the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.
On Sept. 12, students can attend Non-Technical Full-Time Day. This day features jobs that apply to business, communications and health services majors. Sept. 13 is Internship and Co-op Day for students not yet looking for a full-time job. On Sept. 14, students can attend Technical Full-Time Day. This day features jobs that apply to engineering, science and computer tech majors.
“In 2016, 561 employers attended Fall Career Days,” said Elizabeth Fegert, career fairs coordinator at Penn State Career Services. “With such enormous exposure to companies from across the nation, students who attend the fair are sure to find numerous employment or internship opportunities.”
Attending Fall Career Days is a great way for students to land a full-time position, internship or co-op. Students can prepare by familiarizing themselves with the Fall Career Days Workshops schedule leading up to the fair. They can also check out which employers are attending by looking through the employer directory on the event website.
One of the best ways to impress a recruiter is to do research and show interest in the organization. While talking to recruiters, students should ask good questions and thank them for their time. The more a student knows about an organization, the easier it will be to create a great pitch.
Attendees should bring a professional portfolio including copies of their resume, business cards and work samples. It is also wise to bring a pen and notebook to write down upcoming interview information sessions or other notes.
This event is organized by Career Services, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, with a committee of several academic colleges. More information about upcoming programs and events can be found online at studentaffairs.psu.edu/career.
