UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — All undergraduate students are invited to attend the annual College Fair, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, on the HUB lawn. A rain date is set for Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Display tables organized by academic college will offer information about different majors, along with free materials and giveaways. Staff will also be on hand to provide answers to questions and offer details about how and when to meet with an academic adviser. Students will be eligible to win prizes if their event passports include stamps from at least three academic colleges.
College Fair 2016 is a great way for new students to begin thinking about ways to relate their interests to what they can study at Penn State and begin planning future semesters.
Hosted by the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), the event provides important academic information to students looking for majors that complement their strengths and interests. DUS advisers will be on hand to speak with students about ways they can explore options before choosing a major, and about tools they can use to narrow their searches and start planning fulfilling college experiences.
Added goals of the fair include helping first-year undergraduates understand that they can work with academic advisers to plan and manage their educations; consider majors, minors and courses that fit their skills and interests; learn about academic policies and procedures; and get involved in co-curricular activities that are interesting and enriching.
For additional details, contact Pam Baron, senior undergraduate studies adviser, at pab49@psu.edu or 814-865-7576.
The Division of Undergraduate Studies, a unit within the Office of Undergraduate Education, is Penn State’s largest unit of enrollment for first-year students. It leads the development of advising policies and practices, manages the University-wide academic information network, and provides general academic advising for current and prospective Penn State students.
